Tailoring
Being a simple and familiar business model, the virtual pub simulation provides an ideal setting in which to learn about:
-
how businesses keep score (ie basic accounting), and
-
how effective managers affect and improve the score.
But as our courses are delivered in-house rather than on an open basis, there is always scope to tailor the material to maximise its relevance. This is done in several ways:
-
by showing how accounting principles are applied within your sector
-
by including key performance indicators that are important to your business
-
by explaining how your in-house terminology may differ from that of the simulation
-
by demonstrating the applicability of the commercial learning points to your business, through using in-house examples
-
by showing your accounts in a graphical format immediately after introducing the theory

It is also possible to brand documentation, slides and (for online courses) web portals.
To make the tailoring most effective, we will need to meet one of your in-house finance team (online) to discuss your business, collect relevant examples and to align with your financial messaging.
Some clients opt to include a short session from one of your own accountants, particularly within a two-day course.
The 'Nuclear Option' in the context of tailoring is to create a bespoke simulation. This is possible but requires three things for a successful outcome:

-
a commitment from a suitable colleague in-house who will share information and, crucially, a lot of time
-
adequate lead-time for design and testing
-
an upfront financial commitment.
